Bentley's thrust position Monitor is a dual thrust position monitoring system that continuously 

measures and monitors two independent channels of the axial position associated with the 

machine's axial clearance. The monitor can be equipped with an axial probe to directly monitor 

the thrust ring, and the measurement results show the position of the thrust bearing in relation 

to the thrust bearing clearance. However, a sensor failure (clearance out of range) can be 

misinterpreted by the monitor as a shift in thrust position, resulting in a false thrust alert. Therefore, 

it is not recommended to use a single probe in thrust position applications, but rather two proximity 

probes should be used to monitor the same ring or shaft, AND the monitor should be configured 

with an AND vote, i.e. both sensors must simultaneously reach or exceed their alarm set points to 

activate the monitor's alarm relay.
