Details
The 1746-BAS is a single slot module used in SLC 500 modular or fixed style hardware. This module is a Basic Language Module used for interfacing with Human Machine Interface (HMI), printers, modems and other devices for implementing machine level data collection and integration,
The 1746-BAS module features communications ports such as PRT1, PRT2 and DH485 communication interfaces. PRT 1 is exclusive used for interfacing the BAS module to user devices via transmission speeds of 300, 600, 1200, 2400, 4800, 9600 and 19200 Baud Rate in full duplex mode. This port may be configured for RS232,423 / 422, 485 modes. PRT 2 may also be used with user devices and also for interfacing modem using DF1 protocol. It is also capable of RS232 / 423, RS422 / 485 communication modes with same Baud Rates as PRT1. The DH485 communication terminal is used for DH485 network. It is a non-isolated port and requires the use of 1747-AIC to connect the port to DH485 network. It is important to remember that when PRT2 is configured as DF1 or used for interfacing to a modem, the DH485 communication port is disabled.
The Allen Bradley 1746-BAS is a Basic Language Module of the SLC 500 system. It enhances the capability of any SLC 500 system by adding report generation and data collection. It can be connected to modems, printers, operator interface terminals and other external devices through two configurable channels. The 1746-BAS-T module is an identical higher-speed version of this module with different optional memory modules. The 1746-BAS module has a memory size of 24 KB with battery-backed RAM. It has a power supply loading function of 0.150 at 5 Volts DC and 0.040 at 24 Volts DC. For communication, it uses RS-232/423, RS-422, RS-485 and DH-485 ports with a maximum communication distance of 1230 meters.
It has a standard data transfer rate of 8 input words and 8 output words for SLC 5/01 processors and higher. The 1746-BAS module provides easy data collection and an integrated program debugging environment. It has flexible data storage options with an operator interface capability. Its user interface provides easy access to editor functions and has a high-level programming environment; additionally, the 1746-BAS provides extensive online help to the user. It has other features like clock, calendar, advanced text editor, and 8 LED indicators for module diagnostics and operator interface, among others. It has a NEMA standard noise immunity and 0 to 60 degrees Celsius (32 to 140 degrees Fahrenheit) of operating temperature.
