The Allen-Bradley 1746-FIO4I is a Fast analog combination module. This module is part of the SLC 500 product family that mainly features Two (2) analog input channels with 12-bit resolution, configurable for 0-20 mA current / 0-10VDC voltage input signal and Two (2) 0-20 mA analog output signals with resolution of 14-bits.

The 1746-FIO4I is compatible for use with the modular and fixed style SLC-500 hardware. When used with the 1747-L20, 1747-L30, and 1747-L40 Fixed style controllers, this module supports beings to an expansion I/O rack along other modules such as 1746-IA4, IA8, IA16; -IB8, IB16; -IB32; -IG16; -IM4, IM8, IM16; -IN16; -IO4; -IO8; -ITB16, ITV16; -IV8, IV16, IV32; -NO4I, NO4V; -NR4; -NT4; -OA8; -OB8; -OBP16; -OG16; -OV8; and -OV32.

The 1746-FIO4I may be used in applications with limited expansion space as this module combines the functionality of both analog input and output modules. Additionally, with the fast input characteristics, it can accept signals from rapid changing variables as it comes with nominal conversion time of 7.5 µs every 512 µs and step response of 100 µs.

The analog input channels have overall accuracy of ±0.440% of full scale @ 25 degrees C (77 degrees F) and ±0.750% of fllscale @ 60 degrees C (140 degrees F). For analog output, the overall accuracy rating is ±0.298% of full scale @ +25 degrees C (77 degrees F) and ±0.541% of full scale @ 0…60 degrees C (32…140 degrees F). When wiring signals to the module, recommended cable for use is Shielded, Belden #8761 (recommended) with wire size 2.5 mm2 (14 AWG) max.

The Allen-Bradley 1746-FIO4I SLC 500 fast analog I/O module comes with 2 differential current or voltage input channels that are selectable by channel and it has 2 current outputs that are not individually isolated. The input channels have a maximum absolute input voltage of +/- 7.5V DC or of 7.5V AC RMS, and a maximum absolute input current of 0-30 mA. Its input oper
ating voltage ranges are 0-10V DC and 0-20 mA (nominal) or 0-30 mA (maximum), its full-scale voltage is 10V DC, and its overvoltage protection is 7.5V AC RMS. Its output channels have a 0-20 mA output range, a 21 mA full-scale output, and an overrange capability of 5%.

The voltage rating of the 1746-FIO4I module is 0-20 V in common mode and its backplane current ratings are 55 mA at 5 V and 150 mA at 24V. This module’s backplane isolation is 500V DC. Its update time is 512 ms and step response is 100 ms in and 2.5 ms out at 95%. The 1746-FIO4I also comes with a 7 KHz bandwidth and a resolution of 12 bits in and of 14 bits out. Its load range is 0-500; and its maximum load reactance is 100 ?H.

This module uses an open-type enclosure and is mounted onto a chassis and its compatible connecting cable is 14 AWG. The 1746-FIO4I also has an LED indicator light. Note that this module has a non-condensing ambient humidity range of 5-95%.
