The Allen-Bradley 1756-M23 module is a non-volatile memory module. The capacity of the 175-M23 module is 1.5 MB and it is designed for use with the Allen-Bradley ControlLogix 5555 controllers. ControlLogix 5555 controllers compatible with the 1756-M23 module include the 1756-L55M24, 1756-L55M23, 1756-L55M22, 1756-L55M16, 1756-L55M14, 1756-L55M13, 1756-L55M12 and the 1756-L55 controllers. The 1756-M23 module is certified by the UR, CSA, CE, C-tick, and EEx standards. The 1756-M23 module can be used to increase non-volatile memory or as a replacement for faulty memory modules on ControlLogix 5555 controllers.

To install or replace the 1756-M23 module, the controller should be put on a flat surface with the label facing upwards. The side plate should then be removed. The existing memory board (if there is one) should then be removed from the controller. The new or replacement 1756-M23 module should be installed on the controller and the side plate should be re-installed. A label for the memory module can then be added to help with the identification of the device. The environmental specifications for the 1756-M23 module include a -40 to 185 degrees Fahrenheit temperature range for module storage, a 32 to 140 degrees Fahrenheit temperature range for operation, and a 5 to 95% non-condensing relative humidity range for operation and storage. The module complies with the CISPR 11 (Group 1, Class A) emissions standard.
